Drug Store Beetle
Scientific Name: {Stegobium paniceum}
The Drug Store Beetle, Stegobium paniceum, is also known as the bread or biscuit beetle. The adult drug store beetle is 2-3 mm in length and are reddish brown in color. The female will lay eggs in food such as cereals, pasta or chocolate (or cracks and crevices nearby). The larvae can get through packaging and spread to all dried goods. With the right conditions, the Drug Store Beetle will breed rapidly.
